Lermoos is an idyllic Tyrolean village located at about 1000 m above the sea level, at the route of an ancient trading road which passes the Alps. It is in the region of Ausserfern, a mountainous area, slightly detached from the rest of Austria and most accessible from the north. The elevated location of Lermoos provides breathtaking panoramic views of the magnificent Zugspitze mountains in Germany and the Wetterstein and Mieminger mountain ranges. The village possesses one of the most picturesque parish churches in Tyrol the St. Katharina Church. It was built in the 18th century and has a graceful Baroque faade and impressive Roccoco interior. For travelers looking for winter and summer sporting activities, Lermoos and the surrounding region are a real paradise on earth. You will be charmed by the lovely meadows with blooming flowers, the delightful scent of the alpine pastures, the crystal-clear waters of the mountain rivers and lakes, the magnificent Alpian peaks and fresh mountain area. There are numerous possibilities for hiking, cycling or just relaxing in this unique part of Austria.

The regions of Lermoos and the neighbouring Ehrwald and Biberwier form the so called "Snow Arena of Tyrol and Zugspitze". The excellent ski slopes for all levels of skiers are well served by several chairlift. The ski lifts can be easily accessed from both ends of the village. The major skiing area is situated on the flanks of the impressive Grubigstein where you will be stunned by the amazing panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains, the neighbor village of Ehrwald and the Zugspitz Glacier. Skiing is divided into two skill levels. The more experienced skiers can pull down from the higher area, while the lower slopes are for intermediate and beginners. Alternatively, harder skiing is possible slightly off the main slopes where you can also stop at a charming mountain hut with incredible views. The runs on this side are only red and black, being the harder groomed pists available. There two possibilities to reach the top of the slopes the Hochmoos chairlift and Grubigsteinbahn gondola. They both will take you to one and the same spot and your choice can be determined by the location of your hotel.
